SEI Tallinn


                                                    

The Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) -Tallinn Centre was established in 1992 as one of centres in the global SEI network. SEI is an independent, international research institute specializing in sustainable development and environment issues aiming to clarify the requirements, strategies and policies for a transition to sustainability.

 

Other SEI centres are located in Sweden, Estonia, the UK (York and Oxford), the United States and Thailand. SEI-Tallinn Centre/Estonian Institute for Sustainable Development fulfils SEI`s mission in the Baltic States and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Within its programmes (Sustainability Measures, Environmental Management, Climate and Energy, and Environmental Economics and Accounting), SEI-Tallinn specialises in sustainable development evaluation methods, environmental protection, nature conservation, analyses of market-based instruments, environment related policy and management analysis, energy efficiency, and energy conservation-related environmental studies with the relevant studies in the region.

 

SEI-Tallinn is considered a leading institution in Estonia concerning sustainable development, advising local and national level policy makers and working through publications, applied research, training, networking, conferences, seminars, and workshops. Its mission is to support decision-making and induce change towards sustainable development by providing integrative knowledge that bridges science and policy in the field of environment and development.

 

 

The Environmental Management Programme deals with environmental policy implementation within the private and public sector, focusing on issues such as environmental management (ISO 14001, EMAS), eco-efficiency, integrated product policy (LCA, eco-labels), waste management, environmental impact assessment, sustainable consumption and production and corporate social responsibility. The experts have been involved in implementing environmental management systems (EMS) in SMEs and are trained in the EMAS Easy method.
